The Gunners suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool, after the Mersyside club made an incredible start to the game scoring four goals in the first 20 minutes.
Wenger conceded that the defeat raises some serious questions and insists that his side must respond against Manchester United.
“Of course because, no matter what happens, it will be mathematically possible”, Wenger said when asked about his side’s title chances.
“It’s always what you make of the defeats that decides your future and tonight we have a lot to answer for and a lot of answers to find.”
“It was a similar situation against City, Saturday morning, 12.45 and early goals,” he added.
“We have to analyse well what happened, why it happened but we didn’t look sharp physically as well.
“I can completely understand that people will raise questions. We only have one way to respond answer that – which is on Wednesday night.”
Having just suffered the biggest and most disappointing defeat of the season, Arsenal need to try and get back on track as quickly as possible, but with high-profile games coming thick and fast it remains to be seen whether that is feasible. They must win against Manchester United, not just for the points but to answer the questions in their own and others minds.
Despite the crushing defeat, one positive the Gunners may look to is how they responded to similar humiliation against Manchester City as they took 20 points from 24 possible after that defeat. They also responded well to the opening defeat to Aston Villa and hopefully we will show a similar kind of spirit now.
