Wenger abandon plans to sign Lemar as he step up £60m deal for Fekir

Arsenal News HQ brings you the latest Arsenal news, match analysis, transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from trusted media outlets around the world.

Arsenal will not renew its interest in Thomas Lemar, according to the Mirror.

Arsenal tried to sign Lemar last summer but were unsuccessful with several attempts.

Monaco rejected two bids from Arsenal in the summer before a third bid worth around £90m was accepted by the French club on deadline day, only for the player to turn it down.

Wenger had remained keen on signing Lemar next summer but the growing interest in the winger would make a deal impossible.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are now ready to walk away from a deal to sign Lemar.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Manchester United are all believed to be interested in the winger and this could complicate things for Arsenal.

The winger’s representatives will also have the power to demand a bigger contract, knowing that the amount of clubs interested will only drive his price up.

Monaco are prepared to sell next summer but Arsenal fear the French club’s demand would be outrageous.

The report has now claimed Arsenal are already looking out for alternative targets.

Lyon’s Nabil Fekir is being considered as an alternative target to Lemar while Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to Arsenal since last summer.

Lemar was one of Monaco’s best players last season and helped his team to the Ligue One title. He’s continued his fine form this term and will definitely be a great signing for any club.
