Charlie Nicholas believes Manchester United and Arsenal will climb above Tottenham Hotspur and finish the 2018/19 season inside the Premier League’s top four.
The Arsenal hero rates the Gunners’ run-in as the ‘best’, while thinks United have become ‘resilient’ under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will bounce back from defeat at the Emirates to charge inside the Champions League spots.
It looked as if just one spot would be available for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, with Tottenham Hotspur seemingly in a title race with Liverpool and Manchester City, but a recent dip in form has seen Mauricio Pochettino’s side slip to just a one-point advantage over fourth-placed Arsenal.
Manchester United, in fifth place, remain in striking distance, too. Despite losing to Arsenal last weekend, they are just three points off Spurs with eight games to play.
Chelsea sit just one point further back and it promises to be a frantic sprint to qualify for premier European football next season.
Tottenham perhaps remain the favourites given they have more points on the board but having taken just one point in their last four games, Nicholas now expects them to drop out of the top four.
‘The top two are running away with it,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘Arsenal have the best run-in so I am going to go with Arsenal in third.
‘Tottenham are in free-fall at the moment and have to go Liverpool and Man City.
‘Manchester United suffered a first league defeat under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but I expect them to be resilient and have enough in them to finish inside the top four.’
