Thomas Partey’s father Jacob has told a radio station in Ghana that his son would be ‘happy if he went to Arsenal’ amid speculation the midfielder will join this summer.
Things on the Thomas Partey front have been relatively quiet as all recent headlines focus on Arsenal and Willian.
Arsenal, if they want Partey, will probably have to pay his €45m release clause in full and that’s something they aren’t too keen on so have been looking around for other options.
Reading through September’s edition of World Soccer, in which they have a feature on ‘The 500 most important players on the planet’ there is a 42-page special in which there is a small piece on Partey and Arsenal’s interest.
In it, they quote his father as saying, “Arsenal have lots of followers in Ghana. He’d be happy if he went to Arsenal.”
This would fit with what was being said in June when it was claimed that Partey had a ‘clear desire to move to Arsenal this summer.’
Arsenal have tried to get Atletico to reduce their asking price for Partey by offering Matteo Guendouzi in part exchange but the Spaniards reportedly declined.
