Arsenal are on the verge of completing a £98m double swoop for Malcom and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a report in the Express.
As Alexis Sanchez closes in on a move away from the club, Arsenal have stepped up efforts to strengthen its attack.
According to Goal Brazil, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Malcom, after agreeing to £45m fee with Bordeaux. The Gunners have been in talks with the French club over the transfer of the 20 year old and both clubs eventually struck an agreement last week.
Despite signing Malcom to replace Sanchez, Wenger isn’t going to stop there. The manager is also keen on Borrusia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Sky Sports Spanish correspondence Guillem Ballague claimed on twitter that Arsenal were close to a £53m deal for Aubameyang. He wrote on Twitter : “Arsenal want to close soon deal for Aubameyang, left out of squad today, for €60m.”
Ballague also gave his opinion on Malcom. He said Arsenal would be signing a player with great potential in the Brazilian. Speaking on Transfer Talk podcast, he said of Malcom: “He’s a raw diamond, if you like. What Arsenal see is a guy with so much pace.
“He’s so quick. He’s left-footed, plays from the right-hand side but he lacks work, commitment without the ball and a lot of things you have to work with him to develop.
“He’s not the finished product.
“What they want to do if Alexis goes – or when Alexis goes – is to replace him with a guaranteed player that can start for Arsenal. That’s the aim.
A deal to sign the duo would cost £93m, which is huge money to spend in the winter transfer window based on Arsenal’s standards.
There would be no better way to respond to Sanchez’s departure than this kind of show of ambition.
