Shocking: Mkhitaryan makes surprise Arsenal dressing-room statement

Arsenal News HQ brings you the latest Arsenal news, match analysis, transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from trusted media outlets around the World.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan claims the atmosphere at Arsenal is really positive, despite all indications suggesting the exact opposite right now.

It’s fair to say Mkhitaryan hasn’t had the most comfortable start to life in North London.

He played his first minutes in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Swansea, and has lost matches against Spurs, Östersunds FK, Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion since.

The only positives were wins against Everton and Östersund, in which Mkhitaryan racked up five assists.

Despite all the defeats, however, the Armenian sounded surprisingly positive in Arsenal’s most recent membership newsletter, dated March 5th.

“I feel like I have been part of this club for a long time but it is actually just a few weeks,” he said.

“I was put straight into the team and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere in the club is really great and my team-mates are amazing. They’ve helped me a lot and are trying to make me settle in very well.”

I’m not sure I’d describe the current atmosphere as ‘really great’ personally.

The fans have had enough, and are regularly booing or chanting “we want Wenger out”.

According to rumours, players are crying in the dressing room during crisis meetings and the manager seems as close to a departure as we’ve ever seen him.

The only part of this message that’s easy to believe is that Mkhitaryan feels like he’s been here a long time. I think we all feel like this season is dragging on endlessly.

You can understand why Arsenal are trying to put a positive slant on things, though.

The team have one last chance to turn their season around against AC Milan, and they’ll need the fans behind them to do so.

Hopefully we can all put our grievances to one side for 180 minutes.
