Shocking: Giroud set to leave Arsenal on Loan with first option to buy

Besiktas are looking to sign Giroud if they lose Alvaro Negredo this winter but they face a fight to convince the French man who is struggling for game time at the Emirates.

Turkish newspaper Milliyet via the Daily Cannon says Besiktas want to sign Giroud this month. Negredo could leave the club for China before the transfer window closes and that would prompt a move for the Gunners striker.

Giroud has only featured in the Europa League for Arsenal this season and will therefore be eligible to turn out for Besiktas in the Champions League. They are hoping to reach an agreement with Arsenal on a loan with an option to buy or a permanent deal this month.

However, Besiktas may find it difficult to convince Giroud to make the move to Turkey. Last week, the player’s agent said they aren’t interested in a move to China or Turkey, believing that they’d get more game time at Arsenal in the second half of the season. Therefore it is going to take a lot from the Turkish club to get the striker.

Giroud hasn’t featured as much as he’d want to in the league and that’s the reason he’s being linked with an exit. He has already been linked with Everton and West Ham but an injury he sustained in December ended those links.

It is unlikely he’ll be allowed to join Besiktas even though he wants to leave because Arsenal simply can’t afford to lose too many players this month.
