Manchester United have belatedly entered the running for PSG contract rebel Adrien Rabiot.

The France international’s contract is due to expire in the summer and has rejected several offers from the Ligue 1 giants.

Rabiot has fallen out of favour with manager Thomas Tuchel and hasn’t featured for the French champions since their Champions League group stage match against Red Star Belgrade back in December.

PSG signed Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes during the January transfer window and earlier this week were reported to be readying another move for N’Golo Kante amid claims the World Cup winner’s relationship with Maurizio Sarri is deteriorating.

Barcelona were the favourites to sign the 23-year-old but AS claim they have dropped their interest having already agreed a deal to bring Frenkie de Jong to Camp Nou in the summer.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the elegant midfielder and were reported to be growing in confidence that they would win the race to sign Rabiot given the player’s relationship with his former manager Unai Emery.

Barcelona, meanwhile, were said to be shocked by Rabiot’s financial demands, but Manchester United would easily be able to accommodate another eye-watering salary now that Marouane Fellaini, who signed a new deal in the summer, has been sold to Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Bayern Munich and Juventus are also monitoring the player’s situation but the Bundesliga giants are unlikely to be able to afford Rabiot’s wages, while Juve have already committed to paying Aaron Ramsey £300,000-a-week ahead of his anticipated move from Arsenal.
