[Match Preview] Arsenal vs Everton: Gunners could go top today

Arsenal could go to the top of the table today, albeit temporarily, if they win against Everton at the Emirates. After what was a quite brilliant and famous victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Arsenal have to perform in the League as well.

Everton have had an inconsistent campaign so far and suffered a 3-0 humbling by Manchester United at Goodison Park. The Toffees have never won at the Emirates and the run looks set to continue.

This is Arsenal’s last home game before they have three away trips and its important that they win. It would be a huge psychological boost for the Gunners to end the day on top of the table.

The big injury news is of course the blow to Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman is out for 4 weeks with a hamstring injury. While Ramsey’s injury is a shame, it opens the door for the Ox to stake his place in the side. The former Southampton man, for all his talent and potential hasn’t really established himself in the first XI and this period is a great opportunity.

Roberto Martinez’s men are going through an up and down season. They thrashed Chelsea at home but were underwhelming against United. They miss that consistency that top teams find time after time.

Romelu Lukaku will be the man leading the line and behind him the dangerous triumvirate of Barkley, Deulofeu and Naismith. Arsenal will have to keep an eye on Barkley who has been in top form this season.

A win today is important and given the start we had it’s quite possible that we could go top today. Come on you Gunners.
