A recent poll has revealed that just 51% of the fans believe that Ozil has been a great signing, five years after being ecstatic over his arrival, according to Football FanCast.
Mesut Ozil arrived at Arsenal in a club record £42.5 million deal that seemed to mark a new era for the Gunners on the transfer deadline day of 2013.
The years of selling their best players and tightening the purse strings when recruiting due to the financial implications of moving to the Emirates Stadium now seemed to be behind them. They could now sign world class players.
Arsenal ended their nine-year trophy drought by lifting the FA Cup at the end of his first year season at the club, and have gone on to add two more FA Cup wins and three community shield wins.
However, Ozil’s personal form has given the fans less reason to rejoice over the years, with the German midfielder attracting a lot of criticism for his lack of consistency.
Arsenal fans were asked if they consider Ozil a great signing and only 51% seem to think he has been a great signing.
Since his arrival in 2013, Arsenal have been able to bring in some of the biggest names in football, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all signing up for the club.
