Alexandre Lacazette has sent a reassuring message to Arsenal supporters that he feels at home in north London amid speculation of a possible move to Barcelona this summer.
Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona are eyeing Lacazette as a cheaper alternative to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Arsenal are believed to be aware of their interest.
At the weekend, Lacazette admitted he was flattered to be linked with a club of Barcelona’s stature and Arsenal have responded by planning talks with the Frenchman over a new long-term contract.
Arsenal fans were given a fright on Wednesday as Lacazette appeared among the player profiles on Barca’s website – but seeing as the likes of Steve Bould and Sol Bamba were also on the list it was, very obviously, a glitch.
The Gunners are not likely to entertain any offers for Lacazette in the coming months and will no doubt be delighted at the sight of the striker’s most recent Instagram post.
Lacazette uploaded a photograph which showed him posing with his team-mates at Arsenal’s London Colney training base with the location set as ‘My Garden’.
Barcelona are not the only club to have been linked to Lacazette in recent weeks with Le 10 Sport suggesting that Atletico Madrid have made an approach for the forward.
Antoine Griezmann has announced that he will leave Atleti this summer and the La Liga giants have reportedly identified Lacazette as a possible replacement.
Lacazette was an unused substitute as Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1 in their final match of the Premier League campaign, with Unai Emery keen to rest the attacker after he played the full 90 minutes and scored against Valencia.
The France international is expected to start Arsenal’s Europa League final with Chelsea barring injury.
