Lacazette admits he must do this TWO things to get into Emery’s first XI

Alexandre Lacazette has admitted he needs to add more power and quick decision making to his game if he wants to become a regular in the Arsenal starting eleven in the Premier League.

Lacazette’s starting opportunities look to have been significantly limited by the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. Although at first it seemed like the two could start matches together, Unai Emery prefers a sole striker system for Arsenal, meaning the only way they can both play is if one of them is out wide.

The French striker thinks he knows what he needs to work on to get himself in the starting line up more regularly though.

“I have to be more powerful and be quicker in my decision making,” he told Arsenal Player. “It’s harder in England than in France, so I have to take in information quicker and be more powerful.

“I like to be with Auba. He’s a good guy. I’m not asking the coach or telling him, ‘I want to play with Auba’ or something like that. He knows we can play well together and then afterwards, he makes his decision.”

At their best, we’ve seen what the two strikers can do together. Admittedly playing both in the current system has its drawbacks though. It puts more defensive responsibility on one of them, when that’s clearly not the strongest aspect of their games.

Neither are natural wingers either. Aubameyang has the pace, but his crossing is no match for the likes of Iwobi, Mkhitaryan or Özil. Those three also have superior close control, which comes in handy for retaining possession in tight spaces.

We all know Arsenal could do with someone out wide who combines the best of both, but for now Iwobi, Mkhitaryan and even Nelson, are all probably better options on the left.
