Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Arsenal are one of four teams that would challenge for the Premier League title this season, according to the Mirror.
The German manager watched his side play out a nervy goalless draw against Manchester City in a top of table clash which saw Riyadh Mahrez miss from the penalty spot four minutes from time.
The result now means Liverpool are third on the log but level on point with City and Chelsea who both occupy first and second place respectively on goal difference.
With Arsenal just two points behind the leading pack in fourth position, Klopp has revealed that he always knew it’d be more than a two-horse race for the title this season.
The goalless draw has potentially opened up the title race, and when asked if he predicted this kind of outcome, he said “Absolutely, I knew this before! And Arsenal are two points behind, yeah? Having won six games in a row, did they? So, it looks like they are in a good shape.
“But we played City. You can get three points or one point or no points. We got one, which is fine.
“If somebody would have told me after eight match days you have 20 points, I would say with that fixture list ‘I’ll buy it, let’s start with the ninth match day!”
It’s still early days in the season, and there will likely be many twists in the title race as the season goes on.
