Danny Welbeck has joined the Arsenal squad travelling to Baku on Saturday for the Europa League final next week, after recovering from injury.

As strongly rumoured in the last few weeks, Welbeck is now fit again and ready to play, joining the Arsenal squad for the Europa League final.

The striker has featured in a couple of behind-closed-doors friendlies recently, scoring a hat-trick in one of them.

Welbeck has a great record in the Europa League recently, with five goals in his last 667 minutes on the pitch (one every 133 minutes).

He scored a brace against AC Milan in last season’s last-16, bagged a key goal away to CSKA Moscow in the quarter-final and an important winner against Sporting Lisbon in October.

It’s certainly a boost to have the forward available, for what could be his final game. Here is the full list of travelling players:

  • Mesut Özil
  • Shkodran Mustafi
  • Xavier Amaechi
  • Sokratis Papastathopoulos
  • Carl Jenkinson
  • Granit Xhaka
  • Laurent Koscielny
  • Sead Kolasinac
  • Lucas Torreira
  • Danny Welbeck
  • Ainsley Maitland-Niles
  • Nacho Monreal
  • Mohamed Elneny
  • Stephan Lichtsteiner
  • Bernd Leno
  • Deyan Iliev
  • Bukayo Saka
  • Alex Iwobi
  • Matteo Guendouzi
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  • Alexandre Lacazette
  • Joe Willock

  • Petr Cech

It’s great to see Amaechi and Saka involved, particularly in the absence of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The teenage duo have earned their opportunity with strong seasons for the academy.
