The Gunners are currently leading the Premier League table by one point from Manchester City, with 16 games left to play in the season.
The former Manchester United boss feels that Arsene Wenger’s side, who have not won the title since 2003-04, have already proved themselves as genuine contenders this term.
“Arsenal must have a big chance. Everyone keeps writing them off saying they won’t last but we’re into the second half of the season and they’re still there”, he told Daily Mail.
“There’s talk of them signing one or two players in the window, that’s possible. Then you’ve got Chelsea, of course, Everton and Tottenham are starting to do well and United always do well in the second half of the season.”
“So you’ve got a fantastic league and we should be proud of that. This year, for the first time, it really does look as if five or six could be involved.”
“It’s still not an easy league to win. It is the hardest league to win in terms of the competition you face. You can lose to anyone and that’s the great advantage the English league has got.”
Arsenal have been in great form recently and I feel they also have the right mentality this season. The team spirit is tight in the dressing room and they are also benefiting from some proper leaders, but the Gunners are usually known to crumble at certain times of the season and if we can avoid that, then we will have a great chance of ending this trophy drought.
Can Arsenal win something this season?
