Juventus are looking to hijack Arsenal’s move for AS Roma youngster Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to reports on talkSport.
The Gunners have been tracking the midfielder this summer and have already opened talks with Roma over a deal for the central midfielder as new manager Unai Emery is keen to bolster his squad early.
The Gunners recently saw Santi Cazorla leave the club after his contract expired, and Jack Wilshere whose contract expires this summer is yet to renew his deal, prompting the need to sign Pellegrini as replacement.
However, Juventus have entered the race and are now trying to hijack the deal for the player who has a relatively cheap release clause of just £26 million which has put him on high demand this summer.
According to reports, the Old Lady are happy to pay the release clause in full to complete the signing of the midfielder this summer.
Roma don’t want to let him go and will meet his agent to discuss a new contract that will extend his stay at the club, increase his wages and most importantly increase his release clause.
They will be hoping to convince him before either of the two teams interested trigger his release clause. Arsenal are also tracking Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.
