Following the signing of Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper, Berd Leno, by Arsenal, David Ospina’s agent has offered him out to Fenerbahce, as a summer exit looks increasingly likely for the World Cup star.
This report is according to Turkish Football, who writes that Ospina has given his representatives the green light on planning a summer exit. After they offered him to Besiktas last summer (before Arsene Wenger prevented the deal going through), they’re offering him out to Turkey again, this time with Fenerbahce top of the list.
Former Arsenal scout Damien Comolli is now a sporting director at Fenerbahce, and will jet into London to hold transfer talks for the goalkeeper.
Arsenal’s first choice goalie for last season, Petr Cech, had a very poor campaign, making series of mistakes directly leading to goals, yet Ospina remained second-choice anyway. When he did get his big chance, in the Europa League run, he was a bit far from assuring.
If Fenerbahce are willing to cover at least part of the cost of Arsenal’s replacement goalkeeper, it would be a good thing for player and club.
