Arsenal are short of money as they try to land Denis Suarez from Barcelona but according to James Olley they don’t want to sell Aaron Ramsey just yet as Unai Emery wants him in the squad for the rest of the season.
That’s probably just as well as Juventus, where Ramsey seems set to end up, have no intention of paying him a penny (they will, reportedly, pay Ramsey’s agent €9m if he gets him to Turin on a free, however).
Arsenal are trying to bring in Suarez from Barcelona, and the player is said to be up for the move and keen to work with Emery.
The sticking point is the fee as Arsenal are broke and Barca want £20m for a player they paid £2.93m for in 2016.
Barcelona would ideally like a cash transfer but Arsenal’s don’t have the money they used to so the Catalans are open to a loan with a compulsory purchase option.
If Emery is keen to keep Ramsey, for a few months at least, then it does raise a few questions about one of the men the Spaniard named as one of this five captains.
Ramsey himself wanted to stay and the majority of the fans would like to see him remain also.
Yet when the summer arrives he will be packing his backs for Italy to one of the best teams on the planet.
