Denis Saurez hopes Arsenal’s upcoming warm weather training camp in Dubai will provide the platform from which he can finally launch his Gunners career.
The Spaniard joined on loan from Barcelona in January but has been restricted to just six substitute appearances.
Suarez’s arrival coincided with the return to form and fitness of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Arsenal’s player of the month, and has subsequently found opportunities hard to come by.
Reports earlier this week claimed Unai Emery has already decided not to take up the option of signing Suarez on a permanent basis at a cost of £18million in the summer, and will instead renew his interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s versatile winger Christopher Nkunku, 21, when the transfer window reopens.
Suarez jetted out to Dubai on Thursday morning, along with a clutch of youngsters and the senior Arsenal stars who were not selected by their national teams including the likes of Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Alexandre Lacazette.
The 25-year-old believes the training camp, along with Tuesday’s friendly against Al-Nasr Dubai SC, will offer him the chance to prove to Emery he is capable of making an impact in the Premier League.
Emery is said to harbour reservations about his compatriot’s ability to withstand the physical nature of English football and the Daily Mail claims Suarez was even warned against joining Arsenal midway through the season.
Arsenal have won five of their last seven matches in all competitions, moving to within a point of third placed Tottenham in the Premier League and overturning a 3-1 first leg deficit against Rennes to qualify for the Europa League quarter finals where they are due to meet Napoli.
