Daily Mail: Arsenal Set to Sign Powerful Premier League Defender For Just £30m

Arsenal News HQ brings you the latest Arsenal news, match analysis, transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from trusted media outlets around the World.

Arsenal and Tottenham are both reportedly interested in signing Max Aarons from Norwich with a bid of £30m expected to convince the Canaries to sell.

Tottenham reportedly remain favourites to sign the 20-year-old (the Daily Mail refer to him as a teenager but he turned 20, 4 January). But they also claim Arsenal have ‘re-entered the race’ for his signature.

It’s not clear when they left the race for him but it was being reported on New Year’s Eve 2018 that Arsenal planned to ‘match any move’ made for the right-back during the January window.

No bid came in the first 2019 window, at least not one Arsenal felt like matching, and here we are a year later with basically the same story surfacing.

Manchester United reportedly tried to buy him during the summer but were rebuffed quite strongly by Norwich before Aarons then signed a new five-year deal, tying him to Norwich until 2024 and hiking up his price significantly.

Aarons has played 19 Premier League matches this season and completed the full 90 in all of them. He has missed just two matches. Any deal is expected to see him remain at Carrow Road on loan for the rest of the season.

He is believed to be on around £5,000 per week and you can see how badly that compares with what Arsenal players earn.
