Confirmed: Arsenal to Sign Premier League Star Sander Berge This January

Arsenal were very interested in Sander Berge before he joined Sheffield United, and they still are, according to a report.

Norweigan outlet VG report that Arsenal were one of the clubs ‘very interested’ in signing Sander Berge from Belgian side Genk before he joined Sheffield United in January. In fact, they reportedly retain that same interest in the player today.

This is nothing new, with various outlets reporting on Arsenal’s interest in Berge since 2017.

Chris Wilder has relied heavily on his January signing so far this year. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder hasn’t missed a single game of the 26 available to him, starting 22 of them.

The problem is that Sheffield United are playing terribly. They’re bottom of the league, the only Premier League team not to win a single game in all competitions this season. The only time they avoided defeat was against Fulham, who have been poor as well.

Berge has a goal and an assist this season, meaning he’s directly contributed to half of the team’s goals. If they don’t turn things around soon, they’re on a one-way train to the Championship.

That would certainly make things interesting in Berge’s case. Whether it’s Arsenal or someone else, you’d expect one of the clubs with a reported interest to make a move if Sheffield United were no longer playing top-flight football.

But we’re still a long way from the end of the season. You never know what can happen at the bottom when a team finally does put a win or two together.
