Alexandre Lacazette could leave Olympic Lyon next summer even if he signs a new deal this season, according to Football Insider.
The striker was one of Arsene Wenger’s target in the summer transfer window but the French tactician couldn’t find a way to bring the striker to the Emirates.
Wenger tried to negotiate a deal to sign the striker but Lyon rejected the club’s advances and even issued a public statement warning the club off the striker. The Gunners subsequently turned its attention to Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez.
Sky Sports Journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now revealed via his twitter account that Lacazette have been offered a new deal by the French club but he still expects the striker to leave next summer, meaning Arsenal could still have the chance to sign him next year.
“Alexandre Lacazette offered new contract by Lyon – £80,000 a week with £60m release clause. Still expect him to leave Lyon next summer.”
The striker has been impressive for Lyon in the last couple of seasons and have started this season in fine form, scoring six league goals already. Should he impress this season, he could find a club that would easily activate his release clause next summer.
