Arsenal’s Daniel Oyegoke was called up for the England u17s over the international break, but he had to reject the call thanks to a pre-existing injury.
Right-back Oyegoke confirmed to Daily Cannon that he was called up for the England u17 side over the international break, and he would’ve joined Arsenal’s Zane Monlouis at the Syrenka Cup if he’d accepted the call.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t join the England squad to make his debut at u17 level, due to an injury problem that’s been keeping him out of action for a month now.
Oyegoke featured for the England u16s at the Montaigu Tournament earlier this year, and he won this penalty for their only goal of a game against Argentina:

Clearly, Oyegoke’s positive performance at the event and his progress with Arsenal was recognised by the England u17 staff, but it’s just a shame he had bad luck with the timing of his injury.
Oyegoke signed on as a scholar with Arsenal over the summer. We wish him the best with his recovery!Loading...
