England u21 boss Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is on their radar after he watched the winger in person last month.

Bukayo Saka was called up to the England u19s this month, and it’s not the first time he’s featured at that level.

The winger has three goals, one assist and one penalty won in eight appearances (three starts), contributing to a goal every 68 minutes.

As Arsenal fans will be well aware, Saka is also performing well for his club’s senior side. A call-up to the England u21s shouldn’t be too far off, and u21 boss Aidy Boothroyd admits it’s on the horizon.

“He is definitely on the radar,” Boothroyd said.

“I saw him play against (Nottingham) Forest (last month). I know what he’s all about. He’ll do well enough before long.”

It’s a little unfortunate Nottingham Forest was the game Boothroyd saw Saka play. The winger wasn’t bad that day, but he only got 45 minutes from the bench and snatched at a good opportunity.

Compare that to his performances against Manchester United or Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was one of the star players for the Gunners.

All the same, Boothroyd would have to have been living under a rock to miss all the talk around Saka’s performances on those occasions, so not seeing them live shouldn’t be a major problem.
