Alexis Sanchez has told Arsenal to hand him a pay rise if he is going to sign a new contract at the club.
The forward has two years left in his Arsenal contract and has been in talks over a new deal since May.
Although talks have taken a while, Arsenal are still confident they can convince the midfielder to sign a new deal at the club. However, reports claim Sanchez will sign a new deal but has asked the club to make him the highest paid player in the squad.
According to TransferMarketWeb via the Daily Star, Alexis Sanchez has demanded his wages be increased to £175,000 a week.
The forward currently earns around £140,000 weekly and wants a pay rise of £35,000.
The Chile international was linked with a move to Manchester City and Juventus in the summer transfer window but Arsenal were not willing to sell.
Sanchez is a key player at Arsenal and it is very important the club ties him down on a new contract. It is true that the player’s demands will smash the current salary structure at the Emirates but if it means keeping our best player, then it wouldn’t be a bad thing to do.
The Chilean has been Arsenal’s star man since he moved to the Emirates in 2014 and it is only fair his salary reflects his importance to the team.
