Arsenal are interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, but they face stiff competition from Unai Emery’s former side Paris Saint Germain, according to the Daily Express.
Emery is reportedly a huge admirer of the Ghanaian international having watched him during his time in charge of Sevilla.
Reports from the Ghanaian media claim that the Gunners boss could make a move as early as the January transfer window.
However, he could face competition from another former club of his, PSG as they are also interested in the midfielder.
Reports have it that former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is about to take a non-coaching role at the Paris based club and among his first duties will be to try and sign Partey, with Lyon’s Tanguay Ndombele as a backup plan if they fail to land him.
The Ligue 1 table toppers are currently in the middle of a midfield injury crisis, with Marquinhos who is naturally a centre back being forced to deputize in midfield.
With Arsenal set to lose Ramsey soon after failing to agree a contract extension with him, they are keen to replace him and bolster their midfield options even further.
