Schalke general manager Horst Heldt believes star midfielder Julian Draxler does not want to leave the Bundesliga club this winter, while also claiming they are not in talks with the Gunners.
Heldt is standing his ground and is even claiming the player is not seeking a move away from Schalke this month.
He reportedly said:
I am very sure that Julian will play for us in the second half of the season – probably even longer.
There is always anyone interested. We don’t want to sell the player. He was nowhere near telling us that he wants to leave the club this winter.
Heldt denied that he is indeed engaging in transfer negotiations with the north London club:
I checked my office to see if somebody is sitting there but I didn’t find anyone.
Arsenal have set their sights on the youngster and hopefully something can come off today. Regardless of what the German outfit are claiming, the Gunners should make a strong approach and seal the deal.
They need more attacking reinforcements and someone that can actually add quality to the squad rather than for numbers sake. Barca youngster Cristian Tello has also been linked with a possible loan deal, it appears Wenger will be chasing the two youngsters today.
