Arsenal to unveil Draxler on Monday?

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Schalke superstar Julian Draxler and will unveil him on Monday, according to reports in Caught Offside.

The German international is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now and has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.

The reports states that the Gunners will trigger Julian Draxler’s £37.4 million release clause as Arsene Wenger puts to use the transfer budget injection handed to him by the north London side’s board.

It further states that Schalke see the departure of their 20 year old prized asset as inevitable and have planned accordingly as the Bundesliga side brought in Sidney Sam from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month and are to approach Tottenham in an effort to re sign midfielder Lewis Holtby.

Draxler has already amassed 133 appearances for Schalke, has ten German caps to his name and would join compatriots Serge Gnabry, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Ozil if he were to sign for the Gunners.

The German has all the required abilities like ball control, dribbling and shooting to be an instant success at Emirates. He is also a good passer of the ball and can play-make from the wings and with Theo Walcott injured for the rest of the season, he may play a key role in Arsenal’s trophy hunt this season.

Even though the mentioned source is not a trustable one, rumors linking Draxler with Arsenal are heating up. There were some rumors earlier this week which claimed that Draxler visited the Arsenal training ground in London. When asked about this, Wenger jokingly compared the incident with sighting of a UFO.

I doubt whether this transfer will happen this month, as Schalke will want to keep their star asset with a Champions League Round 16 tie against Real Madrid coming up, in addition to their chase for fourth place, where they currently lie seventh, just four points off the Champions League places. However I think he is destined to join the Gunners.
