Dalian Yifang winger Yannick Carrasco has dropped a hint over his future by stating that he has had an offer from another club with media in Belgium claiming it to be from Arsenal.
The 25-year-old was linked with a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window, however, Unai Emery opted to sign Barcelona winger Denis Suarez on loan instead.
That deal failed to work out and Arsenal have again been linked with a move for Carrasco who has made it clear that he would like to leave China this summer due to personal reasons.
Carrasco, who previously played for Monaco and Atletico Madrid prior to his move to the Chinese Super League 18-months ago, has called on his chairman to allow him to leave.
Speaking to Belgian website Nieuwsblad, Carrasco said:
‘There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well.
‘I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me.’
On struggling to adapt to life in China, he added:
‘From a family point of view, I would rather play in Europe and stay closer to my family. The adjustment for my family was also difficult over there.
‘I have become a lot more mature and have learned a lot. Also on the field, where I had to take my responsibility and the team had to bear. But my wish now is to return.’
Emery has a reduced transfer budget to work with this summer – reported to be around £40m – following Arsenal’s failure to seal Champions League football next season.
Dalian Yifang, who also count ex-Napoli skipper Marek Hamsik in their ranks, paid €30m to sign Carrasco from Atletico plus substantial taxes to the state and would be looking to recoup that fee.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of players already this summer as Emery seeks to assemble a squad capable of finishing in the top-four next season.
