Matthijs de Ligt only wants to move to Barcelona and has reportedly told his agent Mino Raiola to forget about any other possible destinations.

Several of Europe’s top clubs are chasing the Ajax star, with Arsenal and Manchester City tipped to make a move for De Ligt.

Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with a transfer interest, as De Ligt has established himself as one of the world’s brightest talents in the last 12 months.

But in talks with his agent, Raiola, De Ligt has made it clear he only wants to join Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Raiola, whose impressive client list includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, is renowned across the footballing world as one the most expensive agents to deal with.

But De Ligt, 19, has told his agent he has no interest in a big-money move and is not motivated by financial gain.

The news will come as a blow to De Ligt’s other suitors, with Unai Emery reportedly a massive fan of the centre-back.

Emery will not have a massive transfer kitty to play with in the summer, but thought De Ligt could be the answer to his side’s defensive woes, despite Ajax setting a £70million asking price.

Arsenal will have up to £100m to spend on signings if Emery delivers Champions League football and raises some funds through player outgoings.

The chances of De Ligt making the switch to Arsenal took a hit last week after Marc Overmars snubbed interest from the Gunners to sign a new deal with Ajax.

Arsenal had hoped Overmars would accept the position of technical director at the club, but the Gunners were knocked back.

Overmars has worked with De Ligt at Ajax as club director and would have been in a unique position to negotiate with his former side had he joined Arsenal.

It seems though De Ligt is determined to follow current Ajax team-mate Frenkie De Jong to Barcelona after the Spanish giants confirmed the midfielder would join them at the end of the season.
