Arsenal target Alvaro Morata has revealed that he has no intention of leaving Madrid and wants to stay at the Spanish club for the rest of the his life.
The likes of Inter Milan and Juventus had joined Arsenal in registering an interest in the prodigal young forward and at one point it was thought that he could be allowed to transfer clubs either on a loan or as part of a permanent deal.
The Spaniard has started just once in the league for Madrid this term but is to stay put and fight for his place after speaking with coach Carlo Ancelotti. Following Real Madrid’s 5-0 thumping of Real Betis this weekend, Morata moved to quell the speculation over his future.
“Despite all the stories that have emerged, I am happy here. I have spoken with the club and the coach and told them I want to stay here”, he said.
“This is the team I have spent my entire life at and I will stay here and do whatever the club asks of me, even if it’s to play a minimal amount of games.
“I know that I’m at the best club in the world and that I need to improve.”
Recent reports suggested that Arsenal wanted the striker on loan could have been the best thing for all parties, but with Morata looking to fight for his place a move looks extremely unlikely in this window. Unless things take another drastic turn over the next 10 days and Madrid buy big, it seems we’re going to have to look elsewhere if we want to bring in another striker this month.
Reports have been heating up that we’re due to hold talks with the agent of Mirko Vucinic about a potential move from Juventus, so it remains to be seen what happens with that deal.
