Arsenal have two major injury worries ahead of Wednesday night’s game against Southampton.
Laurent Koscielny, the central point of Arsene Wenger’s new look three at the back formation, is struggling with a calf problem picked up against Manchester United.
And Granit Xhaka, who limped off during the second half of that 2-0 win against Jose Mourinho’s side, is also far from certain to recover in time for the trip to St Mary’s.
Arsene Wenger gave an update over both players at his press conference at London Colney on Tuesday morning.
The Arsenal boss said: “We have some worries for Koscielny that he might not be available for tomorrow, he has a test today. We will make the decision after training today.
“Xhaka is similar but he looks to have recovered well. The news for him is better but he will have a test as well today.”
There were some whispers that Danny Welbeck, who scored the second goal in the win over United, was also struggling to be fit for Wednesday night’s game.
Wenger was adamant that was not the case, however.
“No, he is OK,” said the Gunners manager.
