Arsenal linked with shock move for Juventus star – Juve ready to sell to Gunners

Arsenal are ready to make a move for Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia, if the Old Lady decide to sell him, according to the Daily Cannon.

The French media reports that the Gunners are currently monitoring Benatia’s situation at Juventus and are poised to make a move if the Old Lady decide to sell.

This is quite bizarre as the same report states that Juventus want €30 million for the center back who is over 30 years and has been injured for most of his first season at the club.

Secondly, even when fit, Benatia has been hardly ever first choice, spending five of the last eight games of the season on the bench.

Arsenal are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer, but Benatia hasn’t proven he is the one for the job.

He might be experienced, but on current form he could very well be on the bench at Arsenal if the move were to go through.

And with Arsenal’s limited transfer budget this summer, it is highly unlikely they’ll spend so much on a 31-year-old who will be on the bench.

At this stage of his career he would want to be playing regularly, which could make him push for a move, but whether it’ll be to Arsenal and at that price? We can only wait to find out.
