Arsenal have been handed double blow ahead of Chelsea clash as N’Golo Kante is winning his race to be fit and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been dropped for the Europa League final.
The midfielder has been struggling with a hamstring injury since the start of the month and missed Chelsea’s final Premier League game of the season.
Arsenal would be delighted to face a Chelsea side without Kante, but it appears the Frenchman will be available for selection.
Kante trained with the rest of the squad on Monday, making his comeback from injury earlier than expected.
The news will be a major boost for Chelsea, who are already without Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi for the clash with Arsenal.
The Gunners have suffered their own selection blow, however, after it was confirmed Henrikh Mkhitaryan would not be able to play against Chelsea.
Because the final is in Baku, Arsenal are unable to guarantee Mkhitaryan’s safety as an Armenian citizen.
Arsenal have taken the decision to leave Mkhitaryan in London, despite assurances from Azerbaijan the midfielder would be safe to travel.
