Joel Campbell believes he deserved more chances at Arsenal than he was given, according to Goal.
The Costa Rica Forward joined Sporting Lisbon on loan in August but feels he was not given enough game time at the Emirates.
Prior to his move to Sporting, the forward held talks about his with Wenger, although the boss wanted the forward to stay at the Emirates, he refused to give him first team assurances. Campbell has now revealed in an interview with Portuguese newspaper A’Bola that he should have been given an opportunity in Arsenal’s first team this season after impressing for the club last year.
Campbell was very impressive the few times he was on the pitch last year and he believes he did enough to warrant a place in the team.
“I feel good, This is a new experience,” he told A Bola .
“I think I deserved to play more after what I did last year, but now this is a new stage.”
Campbell has spent most of his time at Arsenal on loan at other clubs and Sporting is the striker’s fifth loan club since he became a Gunner in 2011. It would look like he doesn’t have a future at the Emirates but Wenger recently assured that if he impresses this season, he could be given a shot at the first team next year.
