Arsenal agree to splash €28m to sign Vida to before the end of transfer window

Arsenal are trying to sign Domagoj Vida from Besiktas, and are willing to offer a fee as high as €28m for the defender who admits it’s his dream to play in the Premier League, according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish outlet MyNet write that Besiktas are planning to send Vida to England, with both Arsenal and West Ham United interested in his signing.

The two clubs are reportedly seriously chasing the transfer, and Arsenal would be willing to offer up to €28m to complete the deal.

Meanwhile, Yenicag write that the Gunners need to offload someone to bring in the defender, and are considering David Ospina, Shkodran Mustafi, Danny Welbeck or Lucas Perez as possible makeweights in the transfer.

Vida himself seems very keen on the move, and he admitted playing in the Premier League is a dream of his.

“I am always dreaming to play in the Premier League,” he said in Haber 1903.

“I do not know if the proposals coming in this period will come again. I want [Besiktas] to make it easy for me.”

If his dream move is to England, Vida doesn’t have long to make that a reality.

The transfer window closes on Thursday, and as he says himself, he’s unlikely to get this chance again.

The defender’s World Cup performances with Croatia and the fact he’s not quite 30 yet make a transfer a real possibility, but that won’t help him a year from now.
