The Europa League final could be Laurent Koscielny’s last game with Arsenal, as he seriously considers a departure from the club this summer, according to reports in France.

L’Equipe (via GFFN) report that Arsenal are stalling on offering Koscielny a contract extension ahead of the transfer window, despite holding initial talks with the 33-year-old.

Koscielny still has a deal lasting until 2020, but if the Gunners aren’t going to extend it then the French international will seek a new challenge.

As a result, it’s starting to seem as if the Europa League final could be the defender’s last game for the club. Rennes and AC Milan have both made contact over a move, and Bayer Leverkusen appear to be favourites right now.

The suggestion is that Arsenal might be holding back on offering Koscielny an extension because they’re considering a costly move for Samuel Umtiti.

The Barcelona centre-back is struggling to make it into the starting eleven with his current club, who want around €60m for him.

Raul Sanllehi is the driving force behind Arsenal’s interest, but a deal looks likely to depend on whether the club can win the Europa League final and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Koscielny has been a key player for Arsenal ever since his return from injury in December, making 30 appearances in 2018/19.

If the Gunners could replace him well, however, moving on a player who turns 34 in September might not be the worst idea.
