Arsenal are winless in last two Premier League ties and they will be desperate to return on the winning ways this Sunday when they are to meet the relegation-threatened AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
The Gunners are five points behind Liverpool in fourth and Arsene Wenger just can’t afford to drop more points, particularly not against the opposition such as AFC Bournemouth.
The visitors conceded two goals in a spectacular London derby against Chelsea (2-2 draw) in the previous round and as many as four in an embarrassing 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last weekend.
Keeping things tight at the back will be the main challenge for The Gunners here since the Cherries have been pretty efficient in most recent ties netting at least two goals in each of last four matches in all competitions.
However, Eddie Howe will not be able to count on services of important attacking figures Joshua King and Jermaine Defoe who are both sidelined due to injuries. The attacking line will thus rely exclusively on the team’s top scorer Callum Wilson who enjoys one of the best seasons in his career having bagged five so far in the top flight.
Wenger also has certain woes with injured players, but the only true absence will be the one at the left-back position where Ashley Maitland-Niles will be forced to make another start since this summer’s acquisition Sead Kolasinac is still injured.
Alexis Sanchez has been in a decent shape lately, but his status is still under a massive question as the Chilean winger is on his best way to leave the Emirates in this transfer window. Olivier Giroud is still injured and Alexandre Lacazette will be the lone striker on Sunday.
