Arsenal are leading the race for Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins and could land the highly rated star for £39 million, according to stunning reports on Arsenalfcblog.
The Gunners manager has already completed two signings this summer and has now turned his attention to signing Portuguese winger, Gelson Martins from Sporting Lisbon.
Arsenal have been quoted a transfer fee of around £39 million which is above the £26 million that the Gunners previously offered.
Martin ended last season with 13 goals and 13 assists for Sporting as they finished third in the Primeira Liga table, behind rivals Porto and Benfica.
The Portuguese wing wizard is still relatively young at 23, with a bright future ahead and possesses needed ability in the Gunners wing.
Unlike Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck, Martins is known to hug the touch line and would offer the crucial component of width to Arsenal’s attacking game.
The young winger is contracted to Sporting until 2021 with a £53 million release clause; he will also feature at the World Cup for Portugal, who are likely to make the quarter-finals.
However, Martins is said to be looking to terminate his contract at Sporting and join a new club, and the Gunners will do well to seize the opportunity to sign the youngster in the coming weeks.
