Arsene Wenger wants Lucas Vazquez to replace Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
The Gunners are in talks with Manchester City and could sell Sanchez before the winter transfer window closes. The Chilean was close to a summer move to City and remains desperate to join the Etihad club.
However, Arsenal will only sanction Sanchez’ move to City after a deal for his replacement has been secured.
According to Don Balon via the Daily Cannon, the man Arsenal are eyeing is Madrid’s Vazquez.
The winger isn’t playing as much as he would want at Madrid and the report says the Gunners want to capitalize on his situation.
Wenger is believed to be a big fan of the winger because of his pace and ability to start counter attacks.
Arsenal would be able to offer Vazquez more playing time but it’ll be hard for Arsenal to pull off the signing this month, maybe in the summer.
Despite his limited minutes on the pitch this season, Vazquez has scored and created a total of eight goals, which is more than impressive.
He is the kind of player Arsenal needs to replace Sanchez. His goal scoring prowess will go a long way to soften the blow of the Chilean’s exit. Anyways there’s no need raising our hopes up, a January move isn’t going to happen.
