Arsenal are willing to make a big money move for Alexandre Lacazette this summer despite having a £30m bid rejected for the striker last year, according to The Telegraph.
Wenger is keen on improving his attacking options ahead of next season and is eyeing up a move for Lacazette.
On Friday there was serious fuss on social media when reports claimed Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Arsenal have made a big offer for Lacazette, only for him to deny making such statement a few hours later.
It may be true that Arsenal are yet to approach Lyon about Lacazette but what is certain is that Wenger is interested in signing the striker.
The striker had hoped on joining Atletico Madrid but that isn’t going to happen as the Spanish side have been banned from signing players this summer, leaving him to look elsewhere.
And French publication L’Equipe claims Arsenal are now the ‘most advanced’ to sign the striker.
The Telegraph claims Arsenal have been a quoted a fee of £50m and Wenger is prepared to sanction such a huge bid or may even include Olivier Giroud as a makeweight.
Lacazette scored 91 goals in the last three seasons and Wenger sees him as a perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez who is pushing to leave the Emirates this summer.
Just like Alexis, Lacazette can play both as a wide forward and a centre forward but the French man will have to step up his game and be consistent if he has to fill the Chilean’s boots.
