Smalling on his way to Arsenal this summer as Man Utd agree £25m deal

Arsenal News HQ brings you the latest Arsenal news, match analysis, transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from trusted media outlets around the World.

Tribal Football are reporting that Arsenal have been alerted by Manchester United’s decision to put Chris Smaling up for sale.

Smalling has been inconsistent at United this season and Jose Mourinho is understood to have become frustrated with the defenders performances, hence, is looking to ship him out in the summer.

Every time Smalling has been linked with a move away from United, Arsenal are usually the first clubs to be linked with the defender, not actually because we are actually interested but because we kept close watch on him as a youngster at Fulham.

The Daily Star via Tribal Football is of the opinion that Wenger remains a big admirer of the winger and would consider making a move for him if he becomes available.

The report claims Arsenal have been alerted by the news that United are prepared to use Jonnny Evans valuation to decide Smalling’s value.

Evans, who is a target of Arsenal is reportedly valued at £25m by West Brom, meaning Smalling would cost around the same figure.

Wenger making a move for Smalling would be the worst decision the boss can ever make in the transfer market.

At a period where it is becoming even more important for Wenger to improve the team, signing Smalling won’t make any sense.

The England international hasn’t proven to better than the options we have already, so I don’t see any need bringing him in.
