Pierre-Emerick Aybameyang decided to join Arsenal after two other clubs pulled out of the race to sign the Gabonese, according to reports.

Aubameyang joined Arsenal for a club record £56m fee on transfer deadline day.

The striker is already proving to be a key part of Arsenal’s team, starting two of the club’s games since his arrival.

Goal via the Express say Aubameyang might not have joined Arsenal had two other clubs made different transfer decisions.

The report claims Real Madrid and AC Milan passed the chance to sign the 28 year old.

Madrid who were said to be interested in a striker decided to put faith in Karim Benzema until the end of the season, rather than signing Aubameyang.

Milan also decided to pass up the opportunity to sign the forward after being offered the chance to sign him.

Aubameyang has revealed on several occasions in the past, his desire to play for Madrid or return to the San Siro where he began his career but their decision to pass up the opportunity to sign him, allowed the Gunners the chance to add him to its attacking Arsenal.

Only time will tell if their loss will be Arsenal’s gain but so far Auba hasn’t shown any hint that he won’t be a hit in the Premier League.

Even though he drew blank against Spurs, one can tell that it’s only going to be a matter of time for the Gabonese to start producing the goods regularly.
