Arsenal wound up an impressive month of October with a convincing 3-0 victory Swansea City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League. The win became their 5th of the month, with Joel Campbell scoring their 13th goal in the last six games. The North Londoners now face a difficult task when they travel to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Arsene Wenger’s side seems to have made amends for the slow start by winning when it mattered the most, humbling the Bundesliga champions with a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates, their first in 13 matches. Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil were on the spot a fortnight ago and will be looking to inflict more pain on Pep Guardiola’s side as the Gunners travel to Munich for the third successive season in the Champions League.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player ahead of their trip, midfielder Mesut Ozil revealed that his side can defeat Bayern again as long as they replicate their home performance against the European powerhouse.
“Firstly, we need to believe in ourselves and secondly we need to be as disciplined as in the first game,” he told Arsenal Player. “We know that they will have a lot of possession and that they will be going for the win.
“We knew that they would have possession and our aim was to counter against them.
The World Cup winner went on to add on the Official Club website that:
“We’ve always got belief because we know exactly what we can do and we’ve got very good players in our ranks, who can be dangerous against every team.
Spirits are at an all time high in the camp as the Gunners have not only won, but also exhibited confidence against teams that they would usually fumble against. Bayern are expected to enjoy the lion’s share of possession but the Gunners will have to work their socks off in order to keep themselves in the games, and in the competition.
This result without a doubt will be of great importance looking ahead. Fingers crossed on other results in the group too.
