Arsenal’s surprise January signing Kim Kallstrom has reportedly been ruled out for 2-3 months after injuring himself in training, according to reports in Swedish outlet AftonBladet.se.
The 31 year old only joined the club on Friday after signing from Spartak Moscow on a loan deal until the end of the season, after Arsene Wenger was forced into the market for a midfielder after learning that Aaron Ramsey will be out for at least another 4-6 weeks.
The Swedish international was in contention to make his Arsenal debut against Crystal Palace, but the latest reports from the Swedish press could place the prospect of a first Gunners appearance under considerable threat.
The report states that Kim injured his back in his first training session yesterday morning and is now out for 2-3 months. There has been no official confirmation from Arsenal, but BBC journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that that the injury happened before the medical and he will be out for 6 games at the least.
“Arsenal signed Kim Kallstrom despite medical finding back injury caused playing beach football. Out for at least 6 games”, he said.
I don’t understand the logic behind loaning a player who will be out for about 2 months out of the 4 months he will be at the club and if Arsenal really knew about the injury before the medical then it’s a really bad decision by the club to sign him. It will be a devastating blow for the Gunners who are already without Ramsey and Theo Walcott for a prolonged period.
