Arsenal have just signed Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan until the end of the season, but what effect will he have on the team?
Kallstrom has over 100 caps for Sweden and has reached the Champions League Semi-Final with Lyon in 2010. The 31 year old has had a reasonably successful career, winning his most recent trophy, the Coupe de France, just two years ago with Lyon. He has also won the Ligue 1 title and several trophies in Sweden near the beginning of his career.
On the face of it, he looks a good addition to the squad but do we really need him? He’s nearing the end of his career and we are already well stocked in his position. However, we are facing a bit of an injury crisis at the moment and he would provide good cover for the injured players. He is a very good passer of the ball and has a reasonably good shot. His quality is still definitely there but his fitness is what worries me, especially with the pace of the Premier League.
He could also help our younger players such as Wilshere and Ramsey develop by passing on his experience and helping them mature into great players.
In my eyes, he is a great addition to the squad and securing him on a loan was a masterstroke from Arsene. He will provide excellent cover for our wounded and will help the squad and the individual players develop into a great team.
