Mathieu Debuchy is already attracting interest from European clubs as the winter transfer window draws closer.
Debuchy has not featured for Arsenal this season and it appears he isn’t in Wenger’s long-term plans. The defender who joined us from Newcastle United in the summer of 2014 hasn’t really had a fruitful spell at Arsenal and a permanent exit is looking inevitable.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bourdeaux but was unable to secure a move away in the summer transfer window partly due to his fitness issues as well as Arsenal’s defensive crisis.
He has resulted to playing in the Premier League Development competition for U23s to work on his fitness but could be offered a route back to first team football in the new year as two European clubs are keen on signing him.
According to the Daily Star via HITC Sports, Galatasaray and Roma are the two clubs interested in signing the defender in the winter transfer window.
The report didn’t mention if it will be a permanent deal or on a temporary basis but considering Debuchy’s situation at the Emirates, it is very likely that he will be allowed to leave permanently if a right offer comes in, although that will depend on how lucky we are with injuries.
Should any of Jenkinson or Bellerin suffer a serious injury before the new year, Wenger could block any potential move for Debuchy just like he did in the summer.
