Deal will not happen – Boss insists he will not agree to star transfer

Arsenal News HQ brings you the latest Arsenal news, match analysis, transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from trusted media outlets around the world.

Arsene Wenger insists he will not sell Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain to Chelsea, amid reports that Conte’s men are preparing a £35m bid.

The Ox is already into the final year of his contract and recently turned down a contract extension from the club.

Despite the prospect of losing Chamberlain for nothing next summer, Wenger is determined to keep the midfielder, whether he signs a new deal or not.

Wenger who spent £16m on Chamberlain when he was 18, believes the midfielder is finally beginning to realize the potential that made him spend big on him.

‘Yes, he is staying here. Why? Personally, because I rate him highly and he’s one of the players who is on his way up,’ said Wenger, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘In the last year, he has made huge progress and personally I want him to stay here for a long time.

‘I’m convinced he will be the English player that everybody will look at in the next two years at the end of the season.’

Wenger is convinced Chamberlain will be a big player in a couple of years but the question is does the midfielder see the Emirates as the best place for his development?

If he did, he wouldn’t be stalling on extending his contract with us.

  1. Well any Arsenal player doing an Ashley Cole, meaning having his head turned by Chelsea is not an Arsenal player as far as I’m concerned.

Fabregas became nothing to Arsenal supporters when he signed for Chelsea.
