Stamford Bridge will have its true honour when it hosts Arsene Wenger’s landmark 1000th game in charge of Arsenal. Wenger described the game as Arsenal’s ‘Game of the season’ and he is right. Win and Arsenal’s season will be revitalized but it’s important not to lose the game. History is against us and Mourinho has something of an Indian sign over us. How fitting would it be for Wenger to inflict Mourinho’s first home defeat as Chelsea’s manager.
Chelsea FC 2003-WDWWWL
It all went wrong for Chelsea last week, the Blues were brought down crashing to Earth when Aston Villa stunned them with a 1-0 defeat. Adding insult to injury, they also had two of their players Ramirez and Willian and their visionary manager sent off. The home side have an excellent record against us and with Mourinho at the helm, it is no wonder they are the favorites but the favorites tag doesn’t win you games. Mourinho hasn’t lost a home game and what a story it would be if the Gunners were to break that run. January re-signing Matic has settled in seamlessly at the centre and he would be joined by Lampard or Luiz. What a piece of inspired business Matic was, allowing him to leave and resigning for £21 millions, So Chelsea , So Mourinho.
OUT: Willian, Ramirez
Arsenal – WLDWLW
The Gunners won’t have a better chance to repay the faith of their manager. Beat Chelsea and their self worshipping manager, end their staggering run and put them out of their misery. Tomas Rosicky is a doubt and Jack Wilshere may return sooner than expected although that isn’t until April. Santi Cazorla will be the creative force behind Giroud and in the absence of Ozil he must capture his form that he showed when he arrived. Giroud must improve his record against the big sides and he got to do much better than he did at Spurs. Chamberlain will provide the pace and without him we look too pedestrian. We may see the Arteta and Flamini axis in this game and they will provide a better shield to the defence. Per and Kozzer have to be Per and Kozzer. A win would be a huge fillip to our run in and who knows it may inspire us to the title.
OUT: Ozil, Ramsey, Walcott, Diaby,Wilshere
Man to watch
Chelsea- Eden Hazard
The Belgian has been irresistible this season and he is the Blues top scorer. Sagna will have his task cut out against Chelsea’s biggest threat and Flamini or Arteta have to mark him when he drifts into midfield. Containing Hazard is key to defeat Chelsea.
Arsenal- Santi Cazorla
Santi is suffering from the second season syndrome and he has to rediscover his mojo against Chelsea. In the absence of Ozil, Wilshere and possibly Rosicky Cazorla has to shoulder the creative responsibility ,pull Matic out of position and create room for the midfield runners.
It is a massive game for both the clubs and if Arsenal can’t win, they shouldn’t lose. A loss would seriously jeopardize our title hopes. But hey this is Arsenal, we will lose to Stoke away one week and win at Chelsea the next. Come on Gunners, Lets win it for our Arsene. COYG
