Arsenal are in talks with Borussia Dortmund to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
The Gabon international is top of Arsenal’s shortlist to replace Alexis Sanchez who is closing in on a move to Manchester United.
Sanchez is expected to move to Old Trafford in the next 48 hours and Arsenal are working hard to bring in a replacement. The Gunners want a top class replacement to replace the Chilean and Aubameyang is considered to be in that category.
The club’s new recruitment head Sven Mislintat is believed to be playing a key role in the pursuit of Aubameyang. He is also behind Arsenal pushing for the inclusion of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the Sanchez’s deal.
Although it is expected that Mislintat will play a key role in Aubameyang’s negotiations, it can’t be said that he is the reason Arsenal are making a move for the striker.
He’s been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the last three transfer window but Wenger seemed not to be convinced to spend big on him.
The presence of Mislintat has changed that and it could see Arsenal spend £50m on another forward just six months after signing Lacazette for around the same price.
